Dorothy Adelia Weigel

March 11, 1919 — September 17, 2015

Dorothy Adelia Weigel, 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully Thursday, September 17, 2015 with family members at her side.

Dorothy was born on March 11, 1919 in Tacoma, Washington to Ludwig and Louise Berg.  During her early years she lived in Tacoma, Washington and Sitka, Alaska before moving to Portland, Oregon in 1937.  She graduated from Washington High School in Portland, Oregon in 1938.

She married Wayne Weigel on January 17, 1943 and lived for over 50 years in Corvallis, Oregon where she was a homemaker raising their three sons.   Wayne preceded her in death in late 2000 after nearly 56 years of marriage.  While living in Corvallis, they were active members of the First Evangelical Church in Albany, Oregon.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Ella Strohmaier; sons, Terry Weigel and his wife, Louise, Steve Weigel and his wife, Susan and Ron Weigel and his wife, Randa; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her family wishes to thank her caregivers at Elder House including, Sue, Susie, Pam, Cheri, Olga, Nadia and Rose who helped take such loving care of her over the past 6 years.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Stehn Family Chapels, Milwaukie, Oregon.   She will be buried during a brief graveside service at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, 34275 Riverside Drive SW, Albany, Oregon later in the same day at 2:00 p.m.   Friends are welcome at either location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contribution in her memory to the charity of ones choice.
