Donald K. Swan passed away Sept. 21, 2014. He was born Aug. 18, 1918 to George and Sarah Swan on Government Island. He grew up in Milwaukie and graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1937. Donald was an excellent athlete who played baseball, basketball and track. He was married to Edna Andreasen for 66years. She passed away in 2010. They had two sons and a daughter. He lost his daughter to cancer earlier this year. During WWII he served in the Coast Guard and was on his way to Japan when the war ended. When he returned he went to work for Safeway and later for the City of Portland at the Memorial Coliseum. He spent his spare time playing golf and building houses. Don was a member of the AL KADER SHRINERS, the Masons, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Eastern Star. He was past master of two lodges. He is survived by his sons, Bob (Lynn) of Milwaukie, Jack (Peggy) of Hillsboro. Grandchildren; Brandon Swan of Forest Grove, Donald Swan of Redmond, OR and Jeremy Swan of Milwaukie. Two great granddaughters; Fiona and Matty. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 @ 9:30 AM at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, followed by a Memorial Service at the Milwaukie Lutheran Church at 12:30 PM.
