Donald William Raddle

Donald William Raddle, 71, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his home in Milwaukie, Oregon.  Don was born September 28, 1943 to Donald and Loraine (Wood) Raddle in St. Paul, Minnesota, the second of 3 children. He lived in Great Falls, Montana with his family from 1950 through 1959.  The family then moved to Portland and he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961.

Don served in the Army in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper from 1964-1967, He was honorably discharged as an SP5.  After which he returned to civilian life and began working at SP&S Railroad where he met his wife Carol.  They married in 1967 in Portland, Oregon.

Over the years he was employed at Oregon Steel Mills retiring in 1988. During this time he and Carol also began their own, lucrative business known as Athletes Sole.  Don was actively involved in various sports both playing and coaching many softball and baseball teams over the years for both children and adults.  He was a devoted family man and took an active part in all family sports activities, coaching whenever needed.  He was an avid golfer, playing every chance he could until his health no longer permitted. He even was the handicap chairman for Broadmoor Men's club.  His favorite activity was gardening in the old backyard swimming pool that he transformed into his personal oasis.

Don is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Dena (Steve) Wheeler of Forsyth, GA; son, Todd (Sherilyn) Raddle of Salem, OR; grandchildren, Nikki and Kyle Wheeler, Caiden Weaver and Colby Raddle; brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Raddle; sister, Rosalind Gallup; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents Don and Loraine Raddle.
