Donald William Erickson

Donald William Erickson, 76, of Milwaukie died January 4, 2014 at Providence Portland Medical Center from complications of lymphoma.

Don was born May 11, 1937 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, son of William and Eva Erickson.  He attended Multnomah Bible College and graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Education/Mathematics. Don taught grammar school in Washington State, the Milwaukie are, but primarily in Boring, OR during a 27-year teaching career. He retired from teaching 21 years ago.

He was active in his church GracePointe, Milwaukie.  Other special interest of his were fishing, hunting, gold prospecting, gardening, working in his shop, making soup, the Portland Trailblazers games, the Derthick (Music) Club and travel. He was a 58-year survivor of Type I diabetes and was part of the 50-year Medalist Study at Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard University.

Don was married to Marlee Pittman Erickson for 38 years with whom he had sons: Phillip, and David. Marlee and Phillip preceded him in death.  He was married to Camille Carswell Erickson since 2001.  He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Erickson Perkins, her husband, Dennis Perkins, their children, Sharon Perkins Garrett, Mark Perkins, Katie Perkins Moss and their families.

A celebration of Don's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at GracePointe church in Milwaukie.  Interment was held at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
