Dolores Joan Bossio

Dolores Joan Bossio, 82, born Aug 24, 1932 in St. Helens, OR, died Nov 2, 2014 in Portland, OR. Dolores moved from St. Helens to Portland, OR at age 14, where she attended Lincoln High School. At age 19, she married Louie R. Bossio, and they moved to Priest River, ID where their three children were born. The family returned to Portland in 1961. When the children were older, Dolores worked as a switchboard operator at Portland Providence Hospital, then as a PBX operator at the corporate offices of Fred Meyer, Inc. She retired from there in 1988, and Louie preceded her in death on Nov 12, 1989. She loved collecting clown figurines, going to bingo, Pine Hollow Reservoir, and Burger King, watching Portland wrestling, doing needlework, and especially crocheting scarves and hats to donate to local schools. Everyone looked forward to her Christmas Eve feasts! During retirement, she became a part-time licensed tax preparer, attended Lents-Gilbert Church of God and Greater Gresham Baptist Church, and volunteered for Lents Loaves and Fishes. Dolores recently lived amongst friends at Lents Village Apartments, and then at Village Health Care Center in Gresham, OR. A celebration of life open house will be held on Sunday, Nov 16, 2:00-5:00 pm. For details, please call 971/255-1892. Dolores is survived by: Her sister, Corrine Schmidli and brother, Myron McDonald. Sons Bruce (Francine) Bossio, Marlon (Jan) Bossio, and daughter Kristine Swofford. Grandchildren Shane (Jody) Anderson, Anton (Tasha) Bossio, Dominic (Gretchen) Bossio, and Melissa Swofford. Great grandchildren Nash and Kamdyn Anderson; Karrington, Jemma, and Max Bossio; Kaidence and Kailia Charette, and Kentin Krebs. Dolores was looking forward to the birth of a ninth great grandchild in the spring.
