Dixie Lee Sander

September 3, 1937 — June 24, 2021

Dixie Lee Sander, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, June 24, 2021 surrounded by the loving support of family at Fieldstone Cornell Landing after a 5-year battle with alzheimers.



Dixie, daughter of Eileen and Wade R. Wilcox, traveled for most of her childhood and later settled in Milwaukie, Oregon.  She met the love of her life and spouse of 47 years, Gus, during her first year at Oregon State University.



Eugene L. (Gus) and Dixie shared a "Spectacular Life" in Milwaukie, Oregon with their eight children. The family later moved to Beaverton and later to Ridgefield, Washington, where Gus passed away 15 years ago from brain cancer.



Dixie's strong faith, kindness, positive nature, stubborn determination and signature smile are the cornerstone attributes that will live on forever through her children, grandchildren, friends and future generations.



Her immediate family includes daughter, Julee and Mark Richards; daughter, Debbie and Ron Seawell; son, Michael and Pamela Sander; daughter, Lisa and Dr. Bradford Ashley; son, Brad and Amy Sander; daughter, Sheri and Fredrik Tjernberg; daughter, Lynda and Scott Olsen; son, Jeff and Nessa Sander; grandchildren, Angie, Cassie, Jake, Bradley, Kasey, Shane, Kylee, Christian, Andy, Kenna, Jon, Nicholas, Luke, Aubree, Julee Kay, Austin, Dylan, Tori, Jo, Markus, Morgan, Charlie and Tommy; and great-grandchildren, Smith, Conrad, Navy and Rue.



Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am, Thursday, July 15, 2021, at St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception - 1716 NW Davis Street, Portland, Oregon 97209 with a reception following in the parish center.
