Dee Ann Bogue

September 10, 1934 — September 16, 2021

Writer and former teacher, Dee Ann Bogue was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who lived her life to please her Lord Jesus Christ and share his salvation with everyone she met. After a difficult year-long battle with ovarian cancer, Dee Ann passed away on September 16th, 2021, in Milwaukie, Oregon from pneumonia complications.

Dee Ann was born to Dorene Gaye (Heacock) Larimer and Donald Clifford Larimer in Newberg, Oregon. She completed her Bachelor's degree at the Oregon College of Education in 1956. In both high school and college, she was in the Homecoming Courts and listed in the "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities" in 1952. After raising her family, she went back to school to complete her Master's degree in Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Dee Ann used her Christian faith, education, and life experiences to become a writer.

As a vocation, Dee Ann started as a Kindergarten teacher in 1956, and continued to use her skills to teach elementary grades and English as a second language (ESL) classes until 1990 when she retired. She felt that training up children was her life's mission during her working years.

After retirement, Dee Ann filled her time with her favorite things. She wrote and published three books "Tansy and the 2000 Earthquakes", "Family Poems", and "Mother's Stories" in addition to writing a monthly column for the Winds of Praise newspaper. She spent her free time reading, quilting, sewing, doing puzzles, and "coffeeing with friends". She called Newport Naz her church home, drawing from the teaching to be even closer to her Lord and was actively involved in the Prison Fellowship beginning in 1992. Dee Ann also enjoyed spending her time traveling, walking, hiking, swimming, gardening, and just being outdoors.

Dee Ann is survived by her husband, Peter Bogue; sons, Kipp Janes (Brenda), Todd Janes (Becky), and Eric Janes (Angie); stepdaughter, Linda Diamond (Bill); stepson, Andrew Bogue; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; and sister, Sonia Lynn.

A Memorial Service will be 2 pm, October 2nd, 2021, at Newport Naz, Church of the Nazarene, 227 NW 12th Street, Newport, Oregon, with Lead Pastor Jeni Hall officiating.
