David R. Obritschkewitsch, 60, was born May 15, 1953 and passed away February 2, 2014. Dave was born in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Agnes Obritschkewitsch. He married Catherine Vanicek on April 22, 1995.
Dave attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School through the 8th grade, and graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1972. In high school he was a member of the ski team, and later joined the Ski Patrol at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. He was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and MENSA. After high school, his interest in fast cars led him to the Rally Fanatics road rally club, where he raced his 1969 MGB and his modified Mazda RX3.
Dave gravitated towards intellectual pursuits, especially computer programming. He received an advanced degree from Portland Community College and worked as a Systems Analyst in the banking and health care industries. From 1984 to 1991 he worked for American Data Services; 1993 to 2003 for Kaiser Permanente, Portland; and from 2008 to the present at Broadridge Financial Solutions, Wheat Ridge, Co. as a Senior Tandem System Programmer.
He greatly enjoyed science fiction, hunting, and family game nights. Always interested in aeronautics, Dave earned his private pilot's license and learned to sky dive. His interests were varied and diverse, and it was difficult to find a topic he was not knowledgeable about. Dave's sharp and quirky wit was legendary among the members of his inner circle who were fortunate (or hapless) enough to experience it. His family will miss his quiet strength and support.
Dave was a 26-year survivor of a liver transplant and he believed in the value of organ donation. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank and son, Dominic.
