Charles Joseph Baggs

Charles (Chuck) Baggs 66, passed away on January 11 in Portland after a short illness. Nicknamed \u0026quot;CJ\u0026quot; at a very young age, Charles was the youngest of 6 children born to Florence and Thomas Baggs of Clackamas, Oregon. Charles leaves behind his wife Mercy, sons Ryan and Eddie, sisters Frances, Mary Ann, and brothers Michael and Marshall. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and beloved sister Betty. Charles was a lifelong resident of Clackamas, Oregon attending Harmony Elementary, Dale Ickes Jr. High and graduating from Clackamas High School. After serving in the US Coast Guard, he entered a career selling automobiles and most recently, fleet and internet manager for Ron Tonkin. Charles had a great love of music and movies. As a child, he received a small projector for Christmas and that started his lifelong passion for film, television and especially classic animation. Before there was VHS, he would entertain family and friends with rented Super 8 movies. Going to his home for these events are cherished memories for all who had the pleasure to be invited. Good food and laughter were the theme always. His enthusiasm was infectious, and you couldn\u0027t help but be caught up in it. Charles was married to his wife Mercy for over 20 years. Theirs was a very close and loving relationship. You seldom saw one without the other. She was always supportive of everything he did, and it showed in the life they built together. They had many wonderful adventures both in the states and her native Philippines. They traveled there frequently, and Charles was a welcome part of Mercy\u0027s extended family. Charles was very proud of Mercy and often stated how much he appreciated her devotion, love, and of course, her cooking. Charles was loved dearly by his sons Ryan and Eddie. They will forever be grateful for his support and love in times of success and challenge. He also passed on his appreciation for music and film to them. Charles was very proud of his sons and expressed that pride to his family and friends often. They will always remember him with love, thanks and laughter. Charles had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious laugh and joy of living. He loved his God, country, wife, family and friends. He will forever be missed by all who loved him. Funeral arrangements by Peake Memorial Chapel in Milwaukie, Oregon. Open casket viewing Wednesday, January 26th from 12-4pm at 1925 SE Scott St, Milwaukie, OR 97222. Burial services with full military honors on Thursday January 27th at 11:30am - 12pm at Willamette National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer for all friends and family to attend."",
