After graduation Cecil accepted a position with PSU as their Business Manager, he held this position for the next 10 years. Cecil married Barbara Jean in 1964 where they made a home in Gresham. In 1970 Barbara and Cecil were blessed with a daughter, Heidi Jean. Family was Cecil's top priority and the joy of his life. Cecil's devotion to family included his sister Barbara Burt, who is presently residing in the Portland area. Cecil called her every night and welcomed her to all the family functions. Cecil accepted an offer from OHSU to be their Director of Institutional Research, which he retired from, after 20 years of service in 2004. In 1979 Cecil's wife Barbara fell ill and passed away. Cecil was extremely proud of his daughter Heidi's accomplishment in school and sports which kept them both busy. In 1982 Cecil married Doris Engstrom and moved the family to SE Oak in Portland in 1983. With a loving smile and a gentle disposition Cecil survived the teenage years of Heidi and her Gaggle of friends. Cecil became "Dad" to most of them and was a mentor to all. His sense of logic and expression of 'no judgment' allowed everybody he came in contact with to feel loved and at peace. With Heidi's graduation Cecil and Doris moved to West Linn, where they resided still. When his grandson, Anthony was born in 1999, Cecil was overjoyed and took his new role as Grandpa very seriously. Heidi and Anthony also resided in West Linn, this allowed Cecil to be a strong part of Anthony's life and to be part of all his activities. Cecil had just celebrated his 70th birthday and his 30th wedding anniversary to Doris. His devotion to his wife was shown every day. Cecil never hesitated to say "I Love You" and was always ready for a big hug. He has been a rock for his family and friends. His strong shoulders and loving nature will be missed. May we all live our life as Cecil did: Loving and caring to all with no judgment, only peace and confidence. May his strength reside in all of us."",
