Billie Jean Kaufman, 66, a resident of the Milwaukie community died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Portland Providence Milwaukie Hospital following a long illness. A Celebration of Life Service was held Tuesday, November 2, 2010 @ 1:00 PM at the East Hill Youth Center Church, 50 NW 5th Street, Gresham, Oregon. Private Cremation Rites have been held. Family Inurnment will be Wednesday, January 26, 2011 @ 10:00 AM at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon. Billie Jean Kaufman was born May 31, 1944 in Portland, Oregon to the late William and Jean Tindall Sheridan. She was raised and educated in the West Linn community having graduated from West Linn High School in 1962. Billie Jean was united in marriage to her high school friend, Dennis S. Kaufman on July 14, 1964 in San Francisco, Ca. He was in the US Navy and they celebrated forty-six years of life together and raised four children. Billie Jean was a busy homemaker for many years while her children were young. Being a military family they moved to some very interesting places over the years. She always made the most of what each location had to offer. Billie Jean traveled to Florida, Maine and taught preschool classes to hearing impaired children in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Among her personal interests she enjoyed all arts and crafts. She sewed clothes for her daughter. Billie Jean was a member of a \u0026quot;stamping\u0026quot; club where she made and decorated cards. She was a great cook In 1989 they moved back to Eugene, Oregon and then here to Milwaukie a few years later. Billie Jean attended the East Hill Foursquare Church for the last fourteen years and loved to go buy children\u0027s clothes for the \u0026quot;Hope For Families\u0026quot; Program through the church. She will be remembered as always giving to others. Survivors include her husband Dennis, four children; Steve and Jeri Kaufman, Terri Harrison, Andy and Joanna Kaufman, and Chris and Michelle Kaufman, two brothers; Alan Sheridan of Hawaii, Edward Hage of West Linn. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and many cousins in the Portland area.
