Beverly Jane Kilcup (Dolle) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Willamette View Health Center in Portland, Oregon. Both daughters were at her side in the days leading up to her transition from life and wish to express deep appreciation to the WV staff who was devoted to her care and comfort throughout the four years she lived there. Bristol Hospice - Oregon LLC provided gentle, loving care and guidance to Beverly and her family during her final days which was received with heart-felt gratitude. Beverly was born in Portland, Oregon on July 6, 1927 to parents Wilfred Carl Dolle and Mabel Edyth Dolle (Patterson). She had an older sister Marion Balliet (Dolle) who passed away in 1973. The sisters were great friends and confidants. Beverly graduated from Grant High School, Portland, in 1945 where she developed many life-long friendships. The friends met regularly throughout the years including annual traveling trips to Oregon destinations. In the fall of 1945 Beverly met her future husband, Dan D. Kilcup, Jr., who had recently returned from World War II after a tour in the U.S. Navy. Following a six month courtship, Danny and Bev were married in May 1946. The couple had two daughters, Christy and Shelley. Dan preceded Beverly in death on September 1, 1993. As a young mother, Beverly worked part time selling custom made Christmas cards for her father's in-home business on Sandy Boulevard in northeast Portland. In the early 60's she joined the Oregon Journal (newspaper) as a proof reader and later became a TTS operator, spacing out lines of print so they would justify when the tape ran through a Linotype machine. Early in her newspaper career Beverly became an employee of the Oregonian where she continued to serve as a proof reader, turning the rough draft notes of others into finished stories. She also worked on advertising set-up for the publication. In March 1989 Beverly joined Dan in retirement. They enjoyed 4 ½ years of traveling the western states in their travel trailer with Freddie, their adventurous Siamese cat. A favorite destination was Sedona, Arizona. Besides her many close relationships with family and friends, Beverly was an active sports enthusiast enjoying both water and snow skiing, hiking, bike riding and running. Her quieter hobbies included reading, playing board games, and lovingly caring for her cat companions. (She always had one!) She was a fervent and dedicated student of Japanese language and culture and even reciprocated language lessons with the young wives of Japanese businessmen temporarily in America for training. In her later years she was a devoted member of two bridge clubs continually learning how to improve and often coming away the winner! Beverly is survived by her two daughters: Christy Allara (Morgan), and Shelley Whitaker (Dennis); and four grandchildren: Scott Lundegard (Brandi), Jolene Blair (Damion), Jill Ekre (Ryan), and Kimberly Allara, as well as twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30 at 2:00 PM at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mount Scott Blvd., Portland. Please bring your car inside the main entry gates, in front of the cemetery office (on the right) and plan to arrive by 1:45 PM. Immediately following the graveside service, all are invited to a "Celebration of Life" at The Commons, Willamette View: 1661 SE River Ridge Drive, Portland. In Lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation in Beverly's name to Bristol Hospice - Oregon LLC: 10365 SE Sunnyside Road, Ste. 340, Clackamas, OR 97015."",
