Betty Burris was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Oak and Olive Burris on June 19, 1919. After attending the University of Utah, and business college, Betty and her parents moved to Portland, Oregon where she lived the rest of her life. She married E. Bryan Shaner on October 12, 1940 who preceded her in death on April 28, 2008. She had one sister, Janet Chytraus, who preceded her in death. Betty thoroughly enjoyed her family and many close friends. She is survived by her children: Greg Shaner (wife, Coralie) of Indiana, Lynne Olson (husband, Gene) of Washington, Gary Shaner (wife, Annette) of Oregon City, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 close nieces, Gayle Ritter of California and Barbara Gilson of Utah. She enjoyed many trips to the Oregon Coast, a favorite spot, with family. She was a creative seamstress, sewing for herself and others. She had a reputation as an accomplished cook. Her divinity, chocolate eclairs, and dinner rolls were well known. She was active in her church and other organizations, serving in leadership roles. Betty and her sister were longtime members of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She died quietly with her daughter present. A service celebrating Betty\u0027s life will be at Moreland Presbyterian Church, April 15, at 2pm. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to P.E.O. :
