Betty Lucille Gerhardus,86, a life long resident of Clackamas county, passed away April 11th, 2011 in Happy Valley, OR. Betty was born September 27th, 1924 to Oscar Ray and Elsie Piper Hartnell in Oregon City, OR. She attended high school in Milwaukie and graduated in 1941. Betty was united in marriage to Ewald Gerhardus on May 5th, 1947. Betty and Ewald celebrated forty-eight years of life together and raised four sons. Betty was extremely supportive of her boys and kept herself busy at many of their school and sporting events. Her hobbies include sewing, quilting and cooking for her family during the holidays. Betty made many of the latch hook rugs for her family. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband as they toured most of the western united states. They went on several trips to Hawaii and visited many of the national parks. They went to Florida and Canada. She stayed active up until her later years by walking daily and taking part in day hikes. Most recently she enjoyed reading. Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Ewald, and her three brothers; Fred, Charles, and Arthur. She is survived by her four sons; Ed, of Oregon City, Dick and wife, Samary, of Damascus, John and Dan Gerhardus, both of Milwaukie, two granddaughters; Becky and Debbie Gerhardus; and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 17th, 2011, from 1-4 pm at Peakes Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will take place Monday, April 18th, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Peake Funeral Chapel, 1925 SE Scott Street, Milwaukie, Oregon, with Pastor Rich Wheeeler from Sunnyside Community Church officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon reception immediately following the chapel service. The interment will be held at 2:30 pm at The Damascus Cemetery in Damascus, Oregon."",
