Barbara Roberts passed away Saturday July 25 at the age of 93. Barbara Cain Roberts was born February 1, 1922 to George Cain and Muriel Macy Cain Hargreaves. She graduated from Armour High School ion 1940. In her years in South Dakota, her family was very involved with music. She also was active in the Girl Scouts of America. She sang at many funerals even while in high school. After graduating, Barbara worked in Washington DC at the Pentagon for 2 years. In 1944 she moved west to Portland, where she spent the rest of her life. In 1948 she married Ellis Roberts. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She played piano, organ, sang and directed choir, and continued to sing for funerals in the area. She also worked at the Sellwood-Moreland Loaves and Fishes for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Colleen, her husband Ellis, and many of her cousins. She is survived by her children, Susan Crane (Steven) of Soldotna, Alaska and Jim Roberts (Deborah) of Portland. Her grandchildren: Leslie Crane of Alaska, Elizabeth Crane of Alaska and James Roberts, Justin Roberts, and Stephan Roberts all of Portland. There are six great grandchildren: Bradyn Holly, Makenna Holly, Veronica Crane, Andrew Thompson, Mikayla Thompson, Lillian Crane all of Alaska. Funeral to be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Sat. Aug. 1. Internment will be at Willamette National with her husband of 54 years. Donations can be made to: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or Loaves and Fishes. Arrangements entrusted to Peake Funeral Chapel, Milwaukie.
