Ann Tate Thatcher, 69, of Milwaukie, Oregon - formally from Aurora, Illinois passed away on Wednesday May 18th, 2016 peacefully in her home. She was born July 14th, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter to the late Irving Dickinson Tate and the late Frances Morton Tate of Wayne Illinois. Ann attended Elgin Academy and pursued her love of music through her studies. She became an Inhalation Therapist from 1969-1972 at both Geneva and Peoria Hospitals. On June 28, 1969 she married Bruce K. Thatcher and together they raised four children in Aurora, Illinois. Ann was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother with a feisty and determined spirit. She was a leader in Boy and Girl Scouts, Youth Groups, PTO and Church Organizations. Ann was one of the founders of the Aurora Soup Kitchen, helping those individuals living in homeless shelters, even opening her home to those in need. She helped many different charities in Illinois and Oregon for both human and fur babies. Ann had many hobbies that she has loved and shared with friends and family over the years including Cooking, Baking, Gardening, Art, Opera, Bowling, Bridge, Music, Travel and Photography. She is survived by her four children, Becky Thatcher Bachus of South Haven, MI, Douglas Thatcher of Elburn, IL, Matthew (Nicole) Thatcher of Elburn, IL and Elizabeth \u0026quot;Betsy\u0026quot; (Eric) Bardwell of Gilroy CA; four grandchildren, Benjamin Bachus, Bailey Bachus, Sadie Thatcher and Lily Thatcher; a sister Lynn Close (Joe) Kramp of Aiken, South Carolina; two nieces Katherine Close Goldman and Carolyn Close Bush; and her two furry companions, Little Bits and Denny Crane. Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her laughter and compassion for others. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Ann will be held on Sunday, June 5 2016 in Portland, OR at Chart House Portland and in Aurora, Illinois at 1pm on June 25, 2016 in Trinity Episcopal Church.
