Alice ""Ruth"" (Hart) Wiley was born Feb. 6, 1922 to George and Henrietta Stratton in Pullman, WA where she lived during her growing up years. She married Oliver L. Hart on July 11, 1942 in Pasadena, CA on the eve of his being shipped out to Europe and North Africa during WWII. After his return the couple settled in Clarkston, WA in the mid 1940's to raise their family. Ruth was a very active member of the Clarkston First Baptist Church and especially enjoyed working with young children in the nursery and Sunday school. Oliver passed away in 1981 and in 1990 Ruth, along with her mother, moved to Milwaukie, OR to live with her daughter. She married Ellis E. Wiley, former pastor of Clarkston First Baptist Church in 1995. They resided in Portland until his death (1997) when she moved back with her daughter. The past year she has been living in an adult foster care home in Portland, due to declining health. Ruth is survived by two sons, George Hart of Carrolton, VA and Philip Hart of Everett, WA; a daughter, Violet Tse of Happy Valley, OR; a brother, Ward Stratton of Pullman, WA; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family requests contributions in her memory are made to the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE).
