Adelaide Mae Powers was born January 28, 1926 in Denver, Colorado to John and Edna Budd. She always attended church, traveling via streetcar with her grandmother to the Baptist Church where she was Baptized at age 9. She met her future husband, Charlie Powers at church when he visited while in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After a year of courtship they were married in 1944. When WWII ended, they moved to Portland, Oregon, eventually settling in Milwaukie in the home they built together. Addie's priority was raising her family, to be there for them as they grew up. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, gardening and crafts. She also enjoyed reading, especially current life and history, archeology and anything about the world around her. She stayed connected with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Went to an occasional movie and liked the Oregon Coast, Newport and Rockaway were her favorites. She loved spending time with her family, they had memorable camping trips, especially to Timothy Meadows (now known as Timothy Lake), there was great trout fishing there (55 years ago). Addie died Sunday, June 17th in the home that she and Charlie built and resided in for more than 60 years. She is survived by her children, John Powers, Virginia Ritzer-Christie and Kathleen Rounsevelle; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; sister and brother-in-law, John and Helen Smith and brother, John William Budd. A Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 21st at New Hope Community Church. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
